Museum with a unique collection from Norwegian and international cinematic history.
At the Film Museum you can explore the first films that were shown in Oslo in 1896, and the museum's own cinema displays historical films from other eras and new Norwegian short films. The origins of film are documented through authentic, optical toys and old film sets.
The museum also houses costumes worn by major movie stars, themed exhibits with animation, advertising, Norwegian film censorship and a quiz station, as well as some of Norwegian cinema's most famous props and characters.
Closed in July, on public holidays and at Christmas.
